Creating art helps me find the spaces in my head that lead to my understanding of the world around me. Accidental discoveries from intuitive impulses are what fuel my work. Experimental techniques and successes from imperfections are the engine for my process. Imagery and words from the moment, inspire layer after layer of plaster, tar, inks, paints, metal leaf and graphite. In my studio you are more likely to find an old sock, a piece of sandpaper, a torn up newspaper or a pair of old underwear than a paintbrush, pallets and turpentine. Working this way allows me to pile ideas, materials and emotions on top of each other, then wipe, sand, and scratch them off again to see what surfaces. The subject matter of my work is this process itself. My pieces are a compilation of experiences, emotions, mistakes and corrections paired with the bumps, bruises and scratches they sustained along the way.
